A simple, comforting Bengali fish curry with a flavourful gravy—made for an everyday rice meal.
Ghrannik Product Used: Ghrannik Fish Masala (publish if confirmed in catalogue)
Clean the fish pieces and gently season them with salt. Prepare the potatoes and tomatoes before beginning so the curry can be cooked continuously.
Step 1 – Fry the Fish
Heat oil in a kadai. Gently fry the fish pieces until lightly golden on both sides. Remove carefully and keep aside.
Step 2 – Cook the Potatoes
Add the potato wedges to the same pan and lightly fry them.
Step 3 – Prepare the Curry Base
Add the chopped tomato and cook until softened. Add Ghrannik Fish Masala with a small quantity of water and cook gently to develop the curry base.
Step 4 – Prepare the Gravy
Add water according to the desired consistency and bring the gravy to a gentle boil.
Step 5 – Add the Fish
Carefully place the fried fish pieces into the gravy. Add green chillies and cook gently so the fish absorbs the flavours without breaking.
Step 6 – Finish the Curry
Once the potatoes are tender and the gravy reaches the desired consistency, switch off the heat. Garnish if desired.
